Brand Story
Hey! I'm Lauren; the maker behind Troubled Bloom.
Ever since my teenage years, I envisioned future me starting a small business to create things that move people. For years, I tried different things, but nothing ever created a spark within me.
I began writing short fiction stories before finding a passion for poetry. My words have been published in various collections, and usually head down an emotional path, stemming from my experience with mental health struggles. Though I write often, I still felt there was something else out there I needed to pursue, so I turned to art. I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in 14 years, and began creating textured artwork. I find inspiration through emotion that I'm not sure how to convey, and I like to see what happens when I sit down surrounded by my tools.
I soon realised that the space I relax and work in has a huge impact on how I feel. I wasn't happy if my surroundings didn't feel right. I wanted to be close to things that brought me joy and helped me get in a better mindset. I searched for pieces that could bring a feeling of calm and changed the way I saw a space, but it was impossible to find anything that I was drawn to. So I decided to open up another creative avenue and make the pieces I wanted to exist. Pieces that were born with a purpose of provoking a feeling that you're in the right place. Items that make you stop and take a moment to admire. After many experiments and bringing in my passion for crystals and beautiful things, Troubled Bloom was born.
Today, I make one-of-a-kind, crystal-adorned homeware pieces, write, and create art, all made to carry meaning, rather than just exist. Troubled Bloom isn’t about fitting in with trends or being perfect. It’s about creating unique pieces that won't be forgotten, for people who wish to create a mindful space.
When I create, be it through words, art, or making, it's never forced. The motivation comes from something that's been growing in my mind until I'm ready to let it spill out. I hope you find something here that makes you feel something too, and you can envision in your space.
If you made it this far. I would love you to stick around.
My Values & Mission
I aim to craft emotion into beautiful, unique pieces that you can hold, and will be treasured for a lifetime. Each piece is unique and tells its own story, embracing the flawed and raw emotions that make us human. Every piece is handcrafted with thoughtful intention and pure care. I create from honesty and not perfection, and validate the heavy parts of us we don't normally share. You won't find any forced positivity here, just pieces that are made from the heart, that people can truly resonate with.
A Note From the Founder
I make art for people like me. Those who feel deeply and long to be understood.
As a published poet and creator, and someone with a personal understanding of mental health struggles, I’ve spent years learning how to get through life with control, honesty and emotional depth.
Troubled Bloom is my way of offering that growth back to others through handcrafted pieces that carry a story with a soft reminder that you’re not alone in the darkness.
Frequently asked questions
What is Troubled Bloom?
Troubled Bloom is a small UK‑based business, offering artwork, handcrafted pieces, poetry prints, and soft‑dark keepsakes. Every item is made to carry intention, and emotional depth.
Are your items handmade?
Every piece is handcrafted, meaning natural variations in colour, florals, and texture are part of the charm. No two items will ever be exactly the same. Moulds are used for shaping.
What materials do you use?
Most pieces are made with:
- eco-resin casting powder
- dried flowers
- natural crystals
- mica powders or pigments
- poetry fragments printed on recycled card
Do you keep items in stock?
I want to ensure each item has been made with intention and crafted with care. Therefore I create one-of-a-kind original pieces, so no two pieces will ever be the same. Every item in each collection will be the only available piece - though with smaller items such as bookmarks, I may create a small batch. I am regularly making new products and once they are ready to find their new home, they will be uploaded on this website.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping may be available depending on your location. Shipping costs and delivery times will be shown at checkout.
What if my item arrives damaged?
I hope this never happens, but if it does please email me within 48 hours and include photos of the issue in its original packaging. I’ll send you a postage label for you to return the item back to me, and I will then replace or refund the item as quickly as possible.
